About
Phographer Colin Ferguson
Born
a short distance from the internationally famous Rennie Macintosh-designed
Glasgow School of Art, Colin Ferguson grew up in one of Europe’s
most vibrant artistic communities. On arrival in Canada he
studied photography at the Northern Alberta Institute of technology,
becoming a commercial photographer, and later acquired a degree
in Art and Design from the University of Alberta.
In 1990 Colin moved to the Bow Valley to accept a position
teaching Photographic Arts at the Alberta College of Art &
Design, establishing Mountain Light Studio in Canmore to serve
the Banff, Lake Louise and Kananaskis Country areas a year
later. Since 1998 he has devoted all of his time to the running
of the studio.
Colin is accredited in Environmental Wedding Photography by
a national panel of judges of the Professional Photographers
of Canada, Canada’s premier professional photography
association, of which he is an active member. He is also a
member of the Alberta Professional Photographers Association.
Colin’s fine art photography is held in private collections
in Canada and the UK and is in the collection of the Province
of Alberta.
Colin brings to his wedding work a keen awareness of the emotions
of the occasion, as well as his love for the mountain landscape
in this special place. To his portraiture and commercial work,
he brings a seasoned visual aesthetic, and he never leaves
home without his sense of humour.
